Prof. Claus Leitzmann is an expert in food science and is Director of the Food Science Institute, University of Giessen. He gained international fame thanks to the publications and the activities undertaken at the University of California, Los Angeles, at Mahidol University in Bangkok and as Director of Anemia and Malnutrition Research Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He was awarded the prize for Zabel cancer prevention and Broermann Foundation Prize for preventive nutrition.

Prof. Claus Leitzmann in front of Veggie Channel cameras summarizes the main concepts of the studies conducted by him and the experiences that made him a worldwide protagonist in the field of nutrition science.

He was born in Germany and after having successfully conducted the studies in biochemistry has become a nutritionist. He believes he has been lucky enough to have been able to live in different countries throughout his life. This gave him the opportunity to realize how much influence food has on people.

His first land port were the U.S. in the 50’s.
