Dairy free diets are dangerous!!??
There seems to be a lot of hubbub that dairy free diets are dangerous and your bones will snap due to not having enough calcium.
First off, most babies who have bad reactions to milk after being weened off their mothers milk aren’t actually allergic to it, in that it’s not their immune system that’s responding to the milk, its because we lack the enzyme called lactase to digest the sugar in milk called lactose. The enzyme lactase is produced by cells in the lining of the small intestine.
The body creates lactase when it’s instructed to do so by the LCT gene, and over time that gene can become less active. The result is lactose intolerance, which can begin after age 2
Simply put, it’s wrong that government recommendations define a healthy diet as one that includes a product that most people are genetically intolerant to.
